" Never look down on anyone unless your helping them up."
Jesse Jackson

In Algebra 1 we will discover the use of equations as a method of solving problems. We will integrate our course whenever possible with historical attributes, technological inventions and the connection of that form of math to our everyday real life interactions. Math is an area that influences every other core course. We will see how to make those real to all.

The class expectations are clear and all students are expected to follow them accordingly.

In my tenure as a math and science teacher periodically I come across magazine or newspaper articles that may be of interest to our middle school students or parents. You may find some interesting articles on the following link: www.nctm.org

There are a few favorite websites of mine that I wish to share with you that may help your child to answer questions as well.

They are : www.askdrmath.org; www.mathforum.org; www.aaamath.com and www.awesomelibrary.com. ,www. aplussmath.com. www.algebra.com and for our textbook www.algebra1.com.  Choose the website math according to your  are of interest.
I have also added the data page links for research resources. Click on the data link.

Each month we will include a bit of information about a mathematician/ scientist on the website. Here we will acknowledge the discoveries, theories and research of famous past and present mathematicians/ scientist. Our choices will hopefully coincide with the topics in class or relate to a topic in the community, media or science. The month of May introduces us to
Dusa McDuff
Click on the mathematician of the month for more information.
