Dawson Alum Receives Barry Goldwater Scholarship

The Alexander Dawson School is proud to announce that Dawson alum Stephanie Gorczyca (class of '08) has been awarded the Barry Goldwater Scholarship.  She is one of two students from Nevada to receive the award this year.

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship Program was created to encourage outstanding students to pursue research careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering and to foster excellence in those fields.  To be considered for the scholarship, a student must be nominated by their college or university. In awarding scholarships, the Foundation Board of Trustees considers the nominated student's field of study and career objectives and the extent to which that individual has the commitment and potential to make a significant contribution to his or her field.

Stephanie will graduate from the University of San Diego in May of 2016 with a degree in biophysics and a minor in chemistry, and plans to pursue a Ph.D.
