I am pleased to announce that Mr. Chris Estrella, Middle School science teacher, has been appointed as the new Director of Dawson College Bound.
Mr. Estrella has a M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction and is currently a research assistant with UNLV. He worked with Teach For America for three years in addition to three years as a teacher in the Clark Country School District (CCSD). In his fourth year at Dawson, Mr. Estrella has earned the respect of colleagues, parents and students, currently serving as Dean of Students and Advisory Leader. He has been active in coaching both athletics and the Nevada Science Bowl in his tenure here. A Dawson parent states that “Mr. Estrella has demonstrated stellar leadership and entrepreneurial skills during his tenure at Dawson, and his passionate involvement in the greater Las Vegas community further strengthens his qualifications as a candidate for this position.”
As a successful graduate of the CCSD system, and a first-generation college student, Mr. Estrella embodies the Dawson College Bound student, which gives him a keen insight on how to effectively reach the DCB audience. Recognizing the accomplishments and groundwork laid by Dr. Camille McCue, Mr. Estrella is dedicated to continuing the program's growth and to assist us with growing the Dawson community as a whole. Mr. Estrella says his goal for every DCB student is to“ignite a fire within." Please join me in welcoming Mr. Estrella to Dawson College Bound!
