Dawson Middle School Science Team Heads to the Nevada Science Bowl 2015!
The Alexander Dawson School is proud to cheer on the Middle School Science Team as they compete in the Nevada Science Bowl 2015 at Henderson International School on Saturday, February 28. The Dawson Team has been preparing for this competition since November with Mr. Chris Estrella, Dawson's seventh-grade science teacher, and Ms. Stella Finfrock, Dawson's school counselor.
"We made a strong showing last year even though it was our first time competing," said Estrella, "and I expect an even better finish this year. The Dawson Science Team are ready and aim to bring home the gold!"
The National Science Bowl (NSB), the umbrella chapter of tomorrow's regional Science Bowl competition, began the middle school competition in 2002 as a highly-competitive science education and academic event. Teams of middle school students compete in a fast-paced verbal forum to solve technical problems and answer questions in all branches of science and math. Regional and national events encourage student involvement in math and science activities of importance to the Department of Energy and the Nation. Click here to learn more.
