Financial Aid

The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain seeks to enroll qualified students regardless of their financial circumstances. Financial aid is offered based upon proven need and available funds. Requests for financial assistance have no influence on the consideration of an application to the school.

Every family must file updated information annually. Both parents are expected to contribute toward their child's educational expenses. All financial information submitted is held in the strictest confidence. To obtain a Parent Financial Statement form, call (702) 949-3600.

Frequently Asked Questions about Financial Aid

Who is eligible to receive financial aid?
More than ten percent of The Alexander Dawson School student body receive Financial Aid. A majority of our families who receive Financial Aid have annual income ranging from $20,000 to $90,000.

How much financial aid may I expect to receive?
It is impossible to determine how much Financial Aid a family may qualify for until the School and Student Service for Financial Aid form has been completed and processed. The number of variables is considerable and includes size of family; annual income; amount of current and long term debt; motor and sports vehicles owned; uninsured medical expenses; home equity; club memberships, vacation, and camp commitments; student resources; and other extended family resources.

How do I apply for financial aid?
The first step is to secure the School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid form from the Admissions Office, complete the form, and mail it to Princeton, N.J., together with a small fee, or click on the link below to access the electronic financial aid form. In addition to the SSS form, Dawson requires copies of your 1040 IRS filing for the current and two prior years. These copies must be received directly from IRS using IRS Form 4506, also available from the Admissions Office.

SSS Online Financial Aid Form

No application for Financial Aid will be considered until the student has completed the Admissions process and the family has been offered an Enrollment Agreement.

Upon completion of the enrollment requirements, return of the signed Enrollment Agreement with appropriate deposit, and receipt of the results of the SSS processing and response from IRS, The Alexander Dawson School Financial Aid Committee will meet to review the application and contingent materials. Awards are made or denied based on the information provided and the availability of Financial Aid Funds. No award will normally be made that exceeds 90% of the family's need as determined by the SSS.

How will financial aid be applied to my account?
When you are notified that a Financial Aid award has been made, the letter will indicate the amount of the award and the balance of tuition then due. Financial Aid is applied ONLY to the Tuition amount and does not cover the fees for Lunch, Books and Supplies, and Activities.

It is important that you consider the amount of fees, uniforms, and related expenses when determining how much tuition you believe you can reasonably pay.

Who knows about financial aid awards?
The process and results of Financial Aid applications are confidential. The three Financial Aid Committee Members, School Accountant, and a secretary who processes notification are the only persons who have knowledge of Financial Aid awards.

If my child receives financial aid this year, what happens next year?
All recipients of Financial Aid must re-apply each year to provide current financial data to the Financial Aid Committee. This includes the SSS form and current 1040 IRS information. Provided the student remains in good standing, financial need continues to exist, and funds are available, it is reasonable to expect awards for successive years at The Alexander Dawson School.
