18,000 books and periodicals - a genuine commitment to learning. The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain
The Dawson Philosophy

We are a nurturing, learning community for boys and girls in Early Childhood through Grade Eight that challenges students to achieve excellence in mind, body, and character. Our mottoes are "Love of the Land" and "Nothing Without Labor."

We offer a stimulating, engaging, and challenging curriculum that allows our students to achieve their personal goals and to prepare themselves for the challenge of nationally respected secondary schools. True to the Dawson philosophy of encouraging students in all facets of their growth, we offer experiences in academics, in the arts, in athletics, and in living and working together. Our students come to appreciate the Beautiful, the True, and the Good while they build their self-respect and intelligence by accepting challenges and working hard.

Values
Empathy, integrity, morality, courtesy, curiosity, responsibility, appreciation of diversity, initiative, creativity, commitment to excellence, respect for self and others, service to others, punctuality, and spirituality are some of the values we hold dear at Dawson. We expect students to rise to our high expectations for them, treating others with respect and kindness. We work hard with parents to ensure that Dawson students are positive, participating members of the school community.

By studying literature, learning about the great heroes and heroines of history, and discussing and writing about our lives together, our students develop a talent for introspection that will make them effective citizens of our world.

It’s never too early to discover the love of reading.
