Because books can accomplish only so much. The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain
Field Trips

All grades participate in field trips. First-hand experience creates a vivid impression that helps students retain what they have learned and integrate their learning into real-world situations.
In Lower School, students take day trips to many local sites, from Red Rock Canyon to the Penguin Habitat at the Flamingo. Their Community Service projects often take them to such places as convalescent homes and animal shelters.

In Middle School, in addition to day trips, students take longer trips. Fifth Graders enjoy an outdoor education program while camping for two nights in Great Basin National Park; Sixth Graders go for five days to Astrocamp in Idyllwild, California to learn about astronomy and space exploration; Seventh Graders spend five days at Sea Camp in San Diego, California learning about marine biology; and Eighth Graders go to Washington, DC for a tour of historical sites central to the founding of our country.

Dawson is a school for the children.
